Because if you look at the a very basic definition of quality like "Value for money" or "Fitness For use" , what those definitions tells us indirectly. It is to provide a product or service to the consumer which satisfy the needs and wants of the consumer. This means if an organization continuously doing such type of work that is a contribution to the society in many ways. For example consumers are getting a product or service that they can value , re-work or defects can be eliminated by saving money, raw materials man hours, nation will become a rich nation because of saving resources, planet will become a good and safe place to live. Therefore if an organization is genuine in its efforts to provide an quality product such organizations are doing a direct contribution to the social responsibilty work. This is my simple understanding of this concept as any issue under the sun is a quality issue if we carefully analysed it.
